State Aid Control in Serbia, EU Conditionality and the Challenge of Institutional Reform is the result of three years of research, 2016-2019, conducted by Dr Marko Milenkovi¿ at the Institute of Social Sciences in Belgrade and at the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development in Bologna. The final product is an original piece of research that examines the implementation of state aid regimes and the process of transforming state aid control in Serbia within the context of EU integration. This book not only contributes to the copious scholarship on EU integration and conditionality, but it also sheds new light on a relatively understudied topic such as state aid regimes in accession countries. Furthermore, this monograph is an important aid to those wishing to understand more about the limits of European Union transformative power in the absence of prospects of membership and incentives for candidate countries to approveunpopular and costly reforms.
